Grant award
The Outreach Committee of St Andrew’s Church, Bedford has very generously awarded a grant of £1000 to the Umeed Project It is hoped to apply this grant to improve the facilities at the new Umeed Middle School in Minority Community DB 58, near Bahawalpur.

Literacy Seminars
Riffat Rizvi from Bangor UK (and Umeed Partnership Treasurer) conducted a three-day series of literacy seminars in Zanas House, Johor Town, Lahore on 14, 15 & 16 April 2009. Salma and Roxanna
Following support from Umeed, Salma and Roxanna from Bahawalpur are now earning Rs 10,000 (£85) each month by selling their work locally. “Umeed has helped us stand on our own feet since the death of our mother” said Roxanna.
