I’m delighted to report that Yousuf Gill secured a UK entry visa for his visit to north Wales in June this year and he spent nearly three weeks in Menai Bridge and Prestatyn raising awareness of the Umeed Project across north Wales. Thanks to all those who gave him such a warm welcome. A very full programme was devised which included meetings with Bishops, MPs, AMs, schools, churches, university departments, community groups and Rotary Clubs.
Yousuf described graphically the need for education and training for women & children in marginalised slum and rural communities. In addition to the core Umeed activities, Yousuf drew attention to the recently introduced Umeed Street Theatre Group in Lahore work in Pakistan the Umeed Partnership group in north Wales has decided to set up a 100+ Club. Supporters are asked to pledge just £5 each month – their names are then put into a monthly draw & cash prizes are awarded. This is a stress-free way to give sustainable support to Umeed and I ask everyone to consider filling in the relevant paperwork & to send it on to our Treasurer, Ged Sanders. Please contact me for a form. Thank you in advance for your continuing support – £5 is a small amount for us but it will make a massive difference to the lives of people in Pakistan.
Best wishes and many thanks for your continued support for the Umeed Project in whatever form it takes.
